Oil on canvas, 24” x 36”, unframed, prints available

Growing up in a suburb of Chicago, Wrigley Field and the Cubbies were always my favorite baseball team. I remember the 80’s with Bill Buckner, Ryne Sandberg and Ron Cey. Harry Caray was a staple in my Cubs memory. His spirit brought so much devotion and joy to the die-hard Cubs fans. So when the Cubs finally won it all in 2016, I knew I had to do a painting. I wanted to depict the spirit and history of the Cubs and in my opinion, that had everything to do with Harry Caray. But I couldn’t figure out how to bring Harry into this painting of a team who didn’t really experience Harry rooting for them. But one morning right at the beginning of my meditation time, I saw a flash of an image in the darkness before me where Harry Caray’s shouting form was superimposed over the picture of the Cubs right after the winning out was achieved. On that particular day, I stopped my meditation for fear that I would forget this key that I’d been given to this painting i wanted to create…. but now I just had to figure out how to do it! This was the result of my inspiration.
